Summary: The study analyses Directive (EU) 2019/1152 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 June 2019, on transparent and predictable working conditions in the European Union, which introduces important changes in relation to its predecessor: Council Directive 91/533/EEC of 14 October 1991 on an employer's obligation to inform employees of the conditions applicable to the contract or employment relationship. The new regulation aims, on the one hand, to reinforce the assurances that favour transparency in the knowledge of their working conditions and, on the other hand, to define a set of instruments that are effective in the fight against job uncertainty and, by extension, that allow us to effectively face the changes derived from the process of digital transformation in which we are immersed. Although it is ambitious and undoubtedly improves and perfects its predecessor, the truth is that there are regulatory gaps that will require new and forceful responses in the short term.
