Summary: |
The election of Jair Messias Bolsonaro as President of the Republic of
Brazil on October 28, 2018 marked a radical change of direction in Brazilian
politics. In particular, from the days before the final election of the President,
the Electoral Court and the police intervened in universities to block any
hypothetical activities of «illegal electoral propaganda». In parallel, drafts
on the «School without Party Act» are discussed, which instigates students in
primary and secondary schools to report, recording with their cell phones,
teachers who «politically indoctrinate» them. A similar project also exists in
Germany, promoted by the far-right party Alternative für Deutschland (AfD).
Also in Italy there have been attempts of censorship in schools, although only
in individual cases. |
