In the background is the belief that the law is one of the threads that naturally inserts itself on the nerves of the fabric of a civilization. The invitation, the recovery, in these general methodological terms, has a foundation and accuracy, but demands to be verified in the reality of the various historical settings, measured in the role that the law has actually played in societies and cultures.O sentido do discurso é substancialmente o convite a um diálogo entre historiador social, historiador do direito e jurista, um diálogo que deveria aproar em uma recuperação do jurídico à grande mesa daquele desenhista rico de cores e de tons que é o �novo historiador�. No fundo se encontra a convicção de que o direito é uma das tramas que naturalmente se inserem nos nervos do tecido de uma civilização.
