Summary: The meaning of discourse is essentially an invitation to a dialogue among social historian, law historian, and lawyer, a dialogue which should direct in a recovery of the legal basis to the large table of that rich designer of colors and tones that is the new historian. In the background is the belief that the law is one of the threads that naturally inserts itself on the nerves of the fabric of a civilization. The invitation, the recovery, in these general methodological terms, has a foundation and accuracy, but demands to be verified in the reality of the various historical settings, measured in the role that the law has actually played in societies and cultures.
