The research focuses on analyzing the factors that trigger work stress, associated with virtuality, in teachers of the Instituto Superior Tecnológico Portoviejo in individual and collective areas that can affect the quality of life of this group. Studying stress encompasses a pondering process about the role that the teacher plays and transcends beyond the socio-labor environment, the historical and the current scientific evolution, understand-ing that the teaching function comprises one of the professions with the greatest impact on the integral devel-opment of the human being, considering it a national public health problem on the rise due to the pandemic declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2020. The methodology used presents a descriptive - analytical, non-experimental, transactional cohort approach. and bibliographic review. Finally, it is highlighted that the requirement of labor demand due to the change of modality generated negative effects on teachers, in addition, the adaptability capacity of individuals is closely associated with intra- and interpersonal factors, generating in many of them uncertainty about job permanence. Exhorting the need to expand research in the field of emotional, physical and psychological health of teaching staff and in this way direct resources that reduce risks in the educational sector.

Exhorting the need to expand research in the field of emotional, physical and psychological health of teaching staff and in this way direct resources that reduce risks in the educational sector.La investigación se centra en analizar los factores que desencadenan estrés laboral, asociado a la virtualidad, en docentes del Instituto Superior Tecnológico Portoviejo, en las áreas individuales y colectivas que pueden afectar la calidad de vida de este grupo. Estudiar el estrés abarca un proceso cavilar sobre el rol que este desempeña en el docente y transciende más allá del entorno socio laboral, lo histórico y la evolución científica vigente, entendiendo que la función docente comprende una de las profesiones de mayor impacto en el desarrollo integral del ser humano, considerándose una problemática de salud pública nacional en aumento debido a la pandemia declarada por la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), en el año 2020. La metodología utilizada es cuali-cuantitativa y presenta un enfoque descriptivo – analítico, de tipo no experimental, de cohorte transaccional y de revisión bibliográfica. Se destaca finalmente que la exigencia de demanda laboral por el cambio de modalidad generó efectos negativos en los docentes; además, la capacidad de adaptabilidad de los individuos se asocia estrechamente a los factores intra e interpersonales, generando en muchos de ellos incertidumbre sobre la permanencia laboral.
