Summary: The research focuses on analyzing the factors that trigger work stress, associated with virtuality, in teachers of the Instituto Superior Tecnológico Portoviejo in individual and collective areas that can affect the quality of life of this group. Studying stress encompasses a pondering process about the role that the teacher plays and transcends beyond the socio-labor environment, the historical and the current scientific evolution, understand-ing that the teaching function comprises one of the professions with the greatest impact on the integral devel-opment of the human being, considering it a national public health problem on the rise due to the pandemic declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2020. The methodology used presents a descriptive - analytical, non-experimental, transactional cohort approach. and bibliographic review. Finally, it is highlighted that the requirement of labor demand due to the change of modality generated negative effects on teachers, in addition, the adaptability capacity of individuals is closely associated with intra- and interpersonal factors, generating in many of them uncertainty about job permanence. Exhorting the need to expand research in the field of emotional, physical and psychological health of teaching staff and in this way direct resources that reduce risks in the educational sector.
