Summary: This paper analyses the legal possibilities of redirecting the enforcement of sentences that involve the demolition of works and infrastructures erected in breach of the urban and environmental regulations, rejecting a radical construction of the procedural rules that, paradoxically, produces legal, economic and environmental damage. The broad powers legally attributed to judges and courts to conduct the enforcement of sentences, the possibility of compensating environmental damage and the rouse of conservation banking can favour alternative enforcement and compliance of certain environmental sentences, without undermining the general interest or the principle of legality.
