Summary: We live in an interdependent and transnationalized world that has been configured as a global risk society. In this framework, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development could mark a turning point in development work by proposing goals and objectives that all countries should follow to build a more sustainable world. With this framework, this article aims to carry out an analysis of the 2030 Agenda to understand its opportunities, difficulties, and contradictions. The article argues that although the Agenda presents important limitations that are related to the lack of questioning structural power relations, it is a true opportunity to place sustainable development at the centre of the political and economic system and to develop policies to deal with the multidimensional crisis that affects all societies.
