Summary: The article aims to analyze the right to personal data protection in the internet age relating to George Orwell’s book “1984”, used to illustrate life in a word without privacy. Firstly, through a parallel between orwellian dystopia and the information society, the text seeks to reflect about the risks of processing personal data on the internet. Following, it examines the evolution of the right to privacy as well as the imperative to recognize the protection of personal data as an autonomous fundamental right in the Federal Constitution of 1988.
