The health and economic crisis that occurred as a result of Covid-19 highlighted the idea that
the flexibility mechanisms available to our labor law could (and should) be used for the sake
of protecting workers. Although the situation experienced exceeded any expectations, the norm
reacted quickly, and adapted to the changing circumstances to maintain employment as a priority
action. Well, a group that received attention that would have been previously desirable was
the self-employed. Although many measures were adopted in the course of the pandemic and
were not as imminent as in dependent work, they have contributed to reinforcing the idea that
self-employment also needed greater support. Consequently, the extension of various measures
approved since the beginning of the pandemic was ordered to try to mitigate its negative effects
and, over time, the adoption of other extraordinary, new aid, as well as the rethinking, in key of
the future, of the dynamics of the contribution of this group. All this, it is about exposing in this
work, in a synthetic way, but that highlights the most relevant evolution and changes that affect
these workers.

All this, it is about exposing in this work, in a synthetic way, but that highlights the most relevant evolution and changes that affect these workers.La crisis sanitaria y económica que se produjo como consecuencia del Covid-19, puso en valor la idea de que los mecanismos de flexibilidad de que disponía nuestro ordenamiento laboral podían (y debían) emplearse en aras de la protección de los trabajadores. Si bien la situación vivida superó cualquier expectativa, la norma reaccionó con rapidez, y se adaptó a las circunstancias cambiantes para mantener el empleo como acción prioritaria. Pues bien, un colectivo al que se prestó una atención que habría sido deseable previamente, fue a los trabajadores autónomos. Si bien muchas medidas se fueron adoptando en el curso de la pandemia y no fueron tan inminentes como en el trabajo dependiente, han contribuido a reforzar la idea de que el trabajo por cuenta propia también precisaba de un respaldo mayor. Así, se dispuso la prórroga de diversas medidas aprobadas desde el comienzo de la pandemia para tratar de atenuar sus efectos negativos y, con el tiempo, la adopción de otras extraordinarias, nuevas ayudas, así como el replanteamiento, en clave de futuro, de la dinámica de la cotización de este colectivo.
