Of this large group made up of all children in conflict with the law under eighteen years of age, infants in conflict with the law are disaggregated or distinguished from adolescents in conflict with the law, according to the type of treatment each one receives, while adolescents are subject to judicial measures, infants are subject to assistance measures, questioning whether, in the case of the latter, this is the most appropriate type of intervention in the prevention of new behaviors classified as crimes that can extend into the adolescent or adult stageEn el año 2005 se reformó en México el artículo 18 constitucional, dicha reforma marcó el término del modelo tutelar e inauguró el modelo garantista en el Derecho de Menores. La denominación de los llamados menores infractores cambió y éstos pasaron a ser niños en conflicto con la ley.
