In 2005, article 18 of the Constitution was
reformed in Mexico, this reform marked the end
of the tutelary model and inaugurated the
guarantee model in the Law of Minors. The name
of the so-called minor offenders changed and
they became children in conflict with the law. Of
this large group made up of all children in
conflict with the law under eighteen years of age,
infants in conflict with the law are disaggregated
or distinguished from adolescents in conflict
with the law, according to the type of treatment
each one receives, while adolescents are subject
to judicial measures, infants are subject to
assistance measures, questioning whether, in the
case of the latter, this is the most appropriate
type of intervention in the prevention of new
behaviors classified as crimes that can extend
into the adolescent or adult stage |
