Although the debates on restorative justice highlight that it can be a good option to complement the shortcomings of ordinary criminal justice in meeting the needs of victims, the truth is, however, that there are many conditions that make it difficult for victims to have access to criminal mediation. This study takes a qualitative and quantitative approach to these conditions, taking the case of the Autonomous Community of Aragon as a reference.En las últimas décadas, las políticas de justicia vienen insistiendo en la necesidad de promover una mejor atención, una mayor participación y una intervención más restaurativa hacia las víctimas de los delitos. Todas esas pretensiones deberían implicar, entre otros aspectos, la información y acceso a servicios de justicia restaurativa (principalmente mediación penal). Aunque los debates sobre justicia restaurativa destacan que puede ser una buena opción para complementar las carencias de la justicia penal ordinaria en la satisfacción de las necesidades de las víctimas, lo cierto es que no son pocas las condiciones que dificultan a las víctimas ese acceso a la mediación penal.
