In Brazil, Political Parties are losing their role in the popular representative function, because according to the society’s perception, Political Parties became oligarchies working only in favor of their own interests. This paper aims to clarify whether Political Parties became a parasite in democracy or if they are capable to benefit the society considering the political scenario. Based on a fundamentally bibliographic methodology, this approach considers the current Brazilian System of Law, the Brazilian Federal Constitution and the Brazilian Electoral Code, besides scholars’ understanding in Electoral Law. This study is necessary due the importance to encourage reflection on democracy defense and the need for political awareness in order to force Political Parties to retake their role in society.
