Gated communities were born in the United States of America and in a few years began to proliferate throughout Latin America. In Spain their peak was the 60s of the 20th century, under the Land Use Act of 1956. In Galicia, although there are several examples of gated communities, the most paradigmatic is the island of Toralla in Vigo, authorized at that time. Nowadays it is possible to find in our Autonomous Community urban planning regulations of a local and regulatory nature that expressly allow the construction of gated communities. |
