Summary: This research analyzes the effectiveness of the regulations regarding protection measures for women victims of family and intimate partner violence in Medellín. To do so, an analysis is made that starts from the general to the particular, that is, from the national to the regional perspective, in which the figures of violence against women in the family and in the couple are studied in depth. It makes a legal and historical review of the protection measures established from Law 294 of 1996 and 575 of 2000 to Law 1257 of 2008 and Regulatory Decree 4799 of 2011, standards that, according to the literature reviewed are not sufficiently effective, since the context of violence against women persists, despite the existence of mechanisms such as the regional route for the attention of cases of gender-based violence.
