Summary: The distrust of citizens in the public powers and main institutions has been a constant in our country. The approval in 2013 of Law 19/2013, of December 9, on transparency, access to public information and good governance, imposed active publicity obligations; In order to guarantee greater transparency in public activity, it recognized the right of access to public information and established good governance duties. Said Law also included political parties in its subjective scope of application. However, this inclusion occurs in conditions of inequality with respect to other obligated subjects of the Law. Along these lines, we will try to analyze whether to guarantee transparency in political parties is sufficient with this regulatory instrument, or whether, for on the contrary, there is still a long way to go to achieve true transparency in them.
