A primeira introduz brevemente a história da legislação civil da China desde o início do século XX. A segunda parte ilustra a razão pela qual a China busca codificar sua legislação civil. A terceira parte, núcleo do presente artigo, tem por foco o conteúdo e as revisões realizadas no segundo projeto do Código Civil chinês.
