The research methodology is of a bibliographic review type. The most important conclusions are that risk factors are associated with malnutrition, anemia in pregnant wom-en, low birth weight at birth or prematurity. However, the treatments are aimed at raising iron levels either orally or intravenously, depending on the type of patient, food is also essential since there are foods that have high iron content.Una adecuada alimentación y cuidados durante el embarazo, son cruciales para evitar el desarrollo de las anemias en los recién nacidos, después del nacimiento la lactancia materna exclusiva hasta al menos los meses de edad es vital para reducir los riesgos de padecer anemia, asociado claro está a una buena ali-mentación después de los 6 meses de edad. La metodología de la investigación, es de tipo revisión biblio-gráfica. Las conclusiones más importantes es que los factores de riesgo están asociados a malnutrición, padecimientos de anemia por parte de la mujer embarazada, bajo peso del neonato al nacer o prematuridad.
