Laburpena: Genetic or genomic medicine is a reality, its integration into our society and health systems is unstoppable. The possibilities offered by this technology for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases are unprecedented and incalculable. However, the development of this technique also involves addressing important issues, some of them pressing for the Law. In this regard, the protection, storage and treatment of genetic data will be discussed, especially through biobanks; as well as the involvement of genetic medicine in the rights of the patient (right to genetic counseling and predictive tests, and the right to personalized medicine).
