A wide range of sources were used for this research: resolutions by the dean, teachers’ files, the written press, militant newspapers and some interviews with relevant actors at the time. We also analyze the state of Legal History prior to August 1973 and the reactions to Kestelboim’s administration, who took control of the Legal History Institute prompting the resignation of its leading members. Finally, we provide a brief account of the six professorships of Argentine Legal History created during the period under study, the legal-historical work carried out by Ortega Peña at the School of Law and the foundation of the Legal History Research Institute (INHIDE).El objetivo de este trabajo es indagar en la situación de la disciplina Historia del Derecho en la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad de Buenos Aires entre junio y agosto de 1973, durante la gestión del Delegado-Interventor Mario Kestelboim, quien, en un contexto de profundas transformaciones políticas y sociales, intentó llevar a cabo una serie de cambios de magnitud en la planta docente, en los contenidos dictados y en los institutos de investigación. Para esta indagación, utilizamos un variado abanico de fuentes: resoluciones del decanato, legajos de profesores, prensa gráfica, periódicos militantes y algunas entrevistas a protagonistas de esa época. También se analiza el estado de la disciplina antes de 1973 y las reacciones suscitadas a partir de la gestión de Kestelboim que intervino el Instituto de Historia del Derecho provocando la renuncia de sus principales figuras.
