This article evidences the importance for Latin America of Roman Law, and the necessity of its study.En la presente investigación se estudia el desarrollo de la enseñanza del derecho en Perú y su regulación a nivel universitario de pregrado y posgrado; así como los principales autores romanistas nacionales y sus publicaciones, y los centros de investigación nacionales dedicados a la difusión del romanismo y a mantener viva esta cultura en Perú y en Latinoamérica. Asimismo, se analiza la filosofía de la enseñanza del derecho romano, cuya permanencia es fundamental en los planes de estudio de todas las facultades de derecho del país y de Sudamérica.
