Due to the nature of the topic we gave preference to the opinion of the indigenous peoples that are linked to the education system. Thus, first, this article offers a short description of the State regulation of the Peruvian BIE, which includes the State institutions linked to the bilingual intercultural education. Second, the methodology used in this work is presented. Third, the factors that influenced the opinion of the indigenous interviewees about the Bilingual Intercultural Education are analyzed. Fourth, the article focuses on the opinions of the interviewees. Finally, a number of necessary conditions to improve the Bilingual Intercultural Education are advanced.El presente trabajo recoge los avances y críticas a la Educación Intercultural Bilingüe —EIB—, pero desde la perspectiva de los indígenas de la Amazonía Peruana. La información que sirve de base para este trabajo, es fruto de las entrevistas efectuadas a indígenas. Debido a la naturaleza del tema hemos dado prioridad a la opinión de los indígenas vinculados al sector educativo.El análisis se inicia con una breve descripción de regulación estatal de la EIB en el Perú, la cual incluye a las instituciones estatales vinculadas a la educación intercultural bilingüe. Posteriormente, nos ocuparemos de la metodología empleada, para luego referirnos a los factores que influyen en la opinión que tienen los indígenas sobre EIB. A continuación, nos centraremos en las opiniones de los entrevistados sobre EIB.
