Summary: Femicide followed by suicide is a complex and little studied phenomenon. Until now, just a few investigations have approach this particular event jointly, examining the homicide of the intimate partner and the subsequent suicide. The aim of this work is to conduct a review of the existing literature about this phenomenon, with a special emphasis on the distinctive characteristics of the aggressors who perform the act of homicide followed by suicide which mostly have to do with different risk factors such as suicidal ideation, the age of the aggressor, premeditation, use of weapons or the history of mental illness (depression).
