Summary: In higher education teachers and students are exposed and immersed in a digital and innovative culture. Nowadays, the use of mobile devices has become a basic daily requirement, but most importantly it has become part of the development of the teaching learning process. Nevertheless, in this new information and communication society there is not a full awareness that digital tools can be used for communication, research, and even tutoring, and not just as entertainment tools.  The present study describes the concepts of web 2.0 tools and the action of tutorials in higher education. Every technological innovation and incorporation carried out in education needs more diffusion, divulgation, compromise and integration; specially, the manner in which tutorials are managed. Tutorials are understood as an inherent activity to the teaching learning process, and not as an eminently extra academic activity. In web 2.0 tool podcasts are introduced as an alternative to digital recorded audio files which are saved into audio streams, so as to be later diffused and listened to in any place where there is internet connection, aiming at innovating and upgrading academic tutorials.
