Summary: The article aims at showing the beginning and the end of a political cycle in South America. It is undeniable that the center left governments generated internal as well as regional policies that modified the existing structures at the time. Its arrival brought about economic prosperity accompanied by a series of changes within the organization of democracy by means of changes in its norms and laws. A historical perspective shows what has happened in each country of the region and consequently the weariness of leftist governments that in many circumstances have generated changes of command away from democracy as well as the changes of the political trends that have been happening by means of the democratic way
