Since the 90 decade, their features have changed according the evolution of the Mediterranean region and the international order. This article analyzes this development and, the second part, will be focused in the changes happened after the 11-S terrorist attacks.Las relaciones de España con los países del Magreb han constituido una de las principales proyecciones de la Política Exterior española desde las décadas centrales del siglo XX. En el presente ocupan un lugar prioritario entre los intereses nacionales y estratégicos españoles. Estas relaciones han atravesado diferentes fases que han ido trazando el perfil de su contenido. Para ello hay que entenderlas en el conjunto de las relaciones en la región del Mediterráneo y los cambios en el orden internacional. Este artículo aborda las características de las relaciones hispano-magrebíes, señalando su trascendencia para los intereses españoles y cómo estos se potenciaron y se fueron transformando en los años 90.
