Summary: |
In this essay, inspired by a personal experience, the author outlines the
connection between knowledge and power, in order to analyze the issue
of inequality in access to college education and the formation of an élite
of knowledge. Subsequently, from the extrapolation of the more widely
known concept of Corporate Social Responsibility, it is asserted that universities
ought to be aware of their role and their impact in the communities
in which they operate. Finally, a number of ideas are proposed as
possible means for universities to exercise University Social Responsibility,
and an analysis of the progress already made in the matter is made. |
