Summary: The goal of this article is to analyze the number of women on the boards of directors in the 118 companies integrating the Madrid Stock Exchange General Index. Taking into account that Aldama Law, which requires companies to disclosure corporate governance information, came into force in 2004; the time period selected for our study goes from 2005 to 2010. After analyzing the data we conclude that the number of women on boards of directors is slightly increasing year by year. Nevertheless, the percentage in comparison with men is still extremely low.
