With this, we note that understanding the interdependence of interdisciplinarity forward to multiple social determinations, the term implies to consider the relevance of "totality" in relations between society and nature to formulate own critique of Environmental Education. In this sense, the critical environmental education requires a systematic process to organize the construction of critical knowledge, attitudes, values, political, social and historical. Finally, we point out that the challenge for critical environmental education is interdisciplinary in its reflection to rise to the challenges of society called capitalist society precisely delineating a critical theory at the level of the current social, cultural and political are governed by mode capitalist production.O presente ensaio objetiva discutir o termo “interdisciplinaridade/interdisciplinar” à luz das diferentes Conferências e documentos ambientais normativos da área. Apontamos que o termo está inserido e relacionado ao conteúdo e à prática da educação, orientada para a resolução dos problemas concretos do meio ambiente através de enfoques interdisciplinares e de uma participação ativa e responsável de cada indivíduo e da coletividade. Com isso, queremos assinalar que compreendendo a interdependência da interdisciplinaridade frente às múltiplas determinações sociais, o termo supõe considerar a relevância da “totalidade” nas relações entre sociedade-natureza para a formulação própria da Educação Ambiental crítica. Nesse sentido, a educação ambiental crítica exige uma sistematização que organize os processos de construção crítica de conhecimentos, atitudes, valores políticos, sociais e históricos.
