It brings the notion of "unity" of the legal phenomenon, understanding the law as "legal system". Allows the advanced student overcomes reflection of the peculiarities of each branch of law and the focus of the "common" and "comprehensive" all the legal phenomenon. The subject should become the way for the advanced student of law achieves autonomously understanding and reflection: the notion of unity of law, order Right, the idea of change in the law, the notion of sheer complexity of law, notion of legal branch, the notion of autonomy of the branches, the crisis of the answers provide traditional legal branches, and the reframing of the need for emergence of new legal branches. El estudiante de Abogacía estudia las distintas ramas jurídicas en asignaturas separadas a lo largo de la carrera. Pues es lógico que así sea, ya que el Derecho se encuentra dividido en diferentes áreas con un objeto propio. Ahora bien, es necesario una asignatura al final de la carrera que reúna a todas las ramas del Derecho estudiadas separadamente, es decir, una visión de síntesis. Esa asignatura es la Teoría General del Derecho. La misma aporta la noción de “unidad” del fenómeno jurídico, la comprensión del Derecho como “sistema jurídico”. Permite al estudiante avanzado la reflexión superadora de las particularidades de cada rama del Derecho y el enfoque de lo “común” y lo “abarcativo” de todo el fenómeno jurídico.
