It is a very sensitive matter due to the fact that two important areas of the law are implicated: the religious freedomprotection and the urban development. As the legislators� response ought to respect what is ordered by the Spanish law when the religious fact becomes relevant in civil society, this work studies the most conflicting issues that the new Catalan regulation seems to introduce in this area. It�s principal success is opening, somehow or other, the possibility of a public debate about this delicate matter.El trabajo trata del establecimiento de centros de culto a la luz del reconocimiento de la libertad religiosa en el artículo 16 de la Constitución española de 1978. Lo hace al hilo de la reciente normativa catalana al respecto. Es una materia muy sensible, pues en ella confluyen dos importantes ámbitos del Ordenamiento: la protección de la libertad religiosa y el urbanismo. En tanto que la respuesta del legislador debe estar en consonancia con lo previsto por el ordenamiento jurídico español para el tratamiento del hecho religioso cuando éste tenga relevancia civil, se estudian los puntos más conflictivos que parece presentar la nueva normativa.
