Summary: |
Freedom of information is the premise for the existence of free public opinion as the base of any democratic system. Freedom of speech has traditionally been menaced by rulers but also by the media companies that defend their own interests. The self-regulation mechanisms of the media can develop an outstanding role in this context. Furthermore, the Social State has the duty to guarantee the freedom information to the public, what involves new problems such as the control of the messages against detestable expressions or the Broadcasting Councils. |
