This system is a further development of the first scales or assessment methods that existed in our country. These tools have evolved in line with the process of changing the social security system and today we are on the verge of a new manual with greater scope. The new tool is of most interest to medical assessors, insurers and the general population.El sistema de seguridad social de Colombia, contempla prestaciones asistenciales y económicas para la compensación de daños a la salud, además de la inclusión de algunas poblaciones vulnerables, entre ellas las personas en situación de discapacidad. Para valorar quienes pueden acceder a estos beneficios, el sistema actual ordena la aplicación del Manual Único para Calificación de la invalidez, que es un desarrollo posterior a los primeros métodos de evaluación que existieron en nuestro país.
