Summary: The Colombia’s social security system provides for economical compensation and for assistive services to people that suffered damages to their health. This includes some vulnerable disabled populations. To value people who can access these benefits, the system defined the implementation of a Unique Manual for Qualification of Disability (Impairment rating). This system is a further development of the first scales or assessment methods that existed in our country. These tools have evolved in line with the process of changing the social security system and today we are on the verge of a new manual with greater scope. The new tool is of most interest to medical assessors, insurers and the general population.
