Summary: The objective of this study is to present the results obtained when evaluating prison-freedom transition, from the perceptions of those individuals who have obtained their freedom after a conviction. An exploratory-descriptive study was developed in an intentional sample composed by 160 adult parolees in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The results indicate that social reintegration is a highly stressful process, in which people return to the everyday context in which they resided, being "free" but also "exposed". The various risk factors identified, at personal, relational and social level, provide important information for the configuration of diagnosis and psychosocial intervention for the problem under study.
