Summary: Considering that the historical consciousness and culture of a determined era and society are mainly molded by visions of the past promoted through various means of "publicizing" history, added to the meanings which history and memory may acquire when taken into the public sphere, this article aims to reflect on the "history of social labor rights" conveyed in the Ministry of Labors Bulletins (Nova Série) of the 1950s, during President Getúlio Vargas` second term (1951-1954). Grounded in the methods for publically disseminating history - related to both historical education processes and those for constructing memories - the text primarily aims to identify the relations between the "historical evolution" of the Social Laws and the "marks" of history in Brazil, as presented in the aforementioned publication, conforming to a given means of representing the past. Second, it aims to analyze the motives, goals and implications of this continual process of publicizing the Labor and Union Legislation, upon Vargas` election in 1950.
