This article pretends to illustrate the importance of the Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) in the international regulatory system, under the context of international society. For this purpose, we will describe essential characteristic in reference to the Colombian juridical ordinance and will evaluate the ratification processes in Latin American countries. The focus of the document will be the transmission of risk, particularly in the articles 66 and 67 of the CISG, which would be the transmission derivate from the loss or deterioration of the merchandise and the transmission in the buying and selling that involves merchandise transportation. The document will study these regulations in the light of international jurisprudence and doctrine.La compraventa internacional es uno de los principales aspectos que dinamizan el Derecho Mercantil Internacional contemporáneo. El presente artículo pretende ilustrar acerca de la importancia que tiene la Convención sobre Compraventa Internacional de Mercaderías (CISG) dentro del régimen normativo internacional, bajo el contexto de la sociedad internacional. Para ello, se describen sus características esenciales con referencia al ordenamiento jurídico colombiano y se evalúa el proceso de ratificación en los países de América Latina. El documento se enfoca en la transmisión del riesgo, en particular en los artículos 66 y 67 de la CISG, esto es, en la transmisión del riesgo derivado de la pérdida o deterioro de las mercaderías y la transmisión en las compraventas que implican transporte de mercaderías.
