This is why new mechanisms have been created that have made it possible today to have a monetary union that encompasses twelve countries and that the Europeans can enjoy the so called Justice, liberty and freedom space proclaimed by the Amsterdam treaty of 1997.El proceso de integración europeo ha sufrido muchas transformaciones a lo largo de su historia; las principales tienen que ver con el debate de la integración por el hecho de ampliar el proceso a más estados o profundizar en la integración para la obtención de una mayor convergencia económica y política.
