Summary: This article provides a historical review of the geopolitical situation that arises from the frontier quarrel between Chile and Bolivia. Particularly, this article tries to establish, within a historical framework, the origins of this frontier quarrel that has forced Bolivia to permanently protest against the Chilean State. That feature of the Bolivian international affairs has remained a constant that, in the course of time, has changed from a bilateral problem to a multulateral one. This situation has made the complete region to be directly or indirectly affected. These regional implications become relevant in a continental context, giving support to the re-launching of extreme political projects with a clear leftist tendency and whose epicenter is Caracas, followed by La Paz.
