Laburpena: This work aims to explain the resulting geopolitical context of the russian invassion of Ukraine, specially, to analyze their causes and potential impact in the ambit of the international relations and his incidence in the whole world order. This study offers the tesis that the current events respond to a circular dinamic of history, wich repeat the political strategies of the Cold War. Nervertheless, today the essential interest of the conflict isn’ t ideological, but energetic and commercial. Russia comes back to the West isolation of the Cold War and the Putin’s scope for an euopean hegemony results extremely difficult. Ukraine is historically a cleft country and the potential product of this conflict could be the institutionalisation of this historical Split. UE continues with his role of the international Law and justice standar-beared, but UE mantains his inability to draw up global strategies without the US support. US keep the same Cold War’s goal: take out Russia of Europe and supports the european dependence of America. All of this forces to detail the features of the US hegemony, according to the theoretical model of Empire. In this sense, it will be pointed the key pillars of the US foreign policy: the Wilsonian idealism, the neo-liberal tacticism and the commercial and military supremacy. Also, it will be explained the weaknesses and rivalries of the US empire in relation with other subjects of the world order. Finally, this work ends with a call to action in foreign policy wich serves to facilitate a win-win relationship.
