Summary: Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) represent the most common complication in pregnancy, affecting approximately 15% of pregnancies and accounting for almost 18% of all maternal deaths worldwide. This research is framed within a documentary bibliographic type methodology. Since it is a systematized process of collection, selection, evaluation and analysis of information, which has been obtained through electronic means in different repositories and search engines such as Google Scholar, Science Direct, Pubmed, among others, using the different Boolean operators for them. and that will serve as a documentary source, for the topic raised above. Preeclampsia - eclampsia is one of the main pathologies causing mortality in the world, the hypertensive picture that characterizes these pathologies, can generate complications such as Hellp syn-drome, fetal death, seizures among others. The diagnosis and management of this pathology is essential to reduce perinatal death, as well as associated risk factors. In Ecuador, hypertensive disorders represented the first cause of maternal death in 2022
