This article aims to define external university internships, as well as their delimitation and distinction from other legal figures in order to be able to differentiate their content from a labor contract and to clearly know in which cases we are facing some true external university internships, and in which cases we are facing a concealed employment contract.Tanto en España como en el resto de la Unión Europea, la institución de las prácticas universitarias externas está siendo utilizada por numerosas empresas con un fin fraudulento: evitar la contratación laboral y conseguir estudiantes que les presten los mismos servicios que prestaría un trabajador ordinario a ningún coste, o en su caso, a un coste muy reducido.
