Summary: This article offers a overview of the significant legal development that the rights of people with disabilities have evolved. The work is based on a historical analysis of the different social paradigms from which the issue of disability has been approached: the exclusion, the medical or rehabilitative, and the social. From there, the current regulatory regime of the rights of people with disabilities at international, European and Spanish framework is described; regime largely inspired by the Convention on the Rights of Persons with disabilities, approved within the United Nations in 2006. This work seeks to emphasize the substantial advances that the spanish legal system has experienced in this area, where the new social paradigm has imposed important advances in multiple branches of law, in which the regulation of the rights of people with disabilities is faced from inclusion, participation and non-discrimination.
