Summary: The research aims to understand the effectiveness of public policies related to food security for early childhood, highlighting the study of theoretical, bibliographical, normative references and other statistical sources for the interpretation of this social phenomenon. The methodological design is qualitative with a historical-hermeneutical approach to analyze and establish the applicability of public policies in the field of food security, but it includes some inputs from quantitative studies that favor the interpretation of the food benefits granted. to children by the Colombian state in the city of Manizales. In conclusion, it is observed that the concept of food security in early childhood requires a key reinforcement of its intersection as a fundamental human right and the creation of public policies in accordance with the condition of subjects of special protection, an aspect that would allow increasing its effectiveness.
