Justification: Learning problems have affected since many years ago, however, in times of pandemic the difficulties may progressively increase at par and one of the parameters to be evaluated is the influence that family functionality may have. Objective: To determine the influence of family functionality on academic performance in university students in times of pandemic. Methodology: Descriptive cross-sectional correlational study, study population 623 university students to whom a survey was applied, analyzed by means of Prevalence Ratio, OR and IC95%, with interaction between variables by means of SPSS V20. Results: 64.7% were women, 78.2% were from the Andean region, 95.8% were single and 10.1% presented low performance, of which 42.9% presented family dysfunction, 41.3% were under 20 years of age and the prob-ability of these students having low performance was 92%. It was shown that 65.2% of students belong to a nuclear family, the male sex is 66% more likely to have low performance than the female sex, students who present family dysfunction are 2.4 times (PR 2.43; 95%CI 1.51-3.84) more likely to have low academic performance. Conclusions: Low academic performance in times of pandemic has been influenced not only by age, sex but also, by family dysfunctionality, increasing the proportion of students who must be failed.

Objectivo: Determinar a influência do funcionamento da família no desempenho académico dos estudantes universitários em tempos de pandemia. Metodologia: Estudo descritivo transversal correlacional, popu-lação estudada 623 estudantes universitários aos quais foi aplicado um inquérito, analisado usando Prevalence Ratio, OR e IC95%, com interacção entre variáveis usando SPSS V20. Resultados: 64,7% eram do sexo feminino, 78,2% eram da região andina, 95,8% eram solteiros e 10,1% eram alunos com fraco aproveitamento, dos quais 42,9% tinham disfunções familiares, 41,3% tinham menos de 20 anos de idade e a probabilidade destes alunos serem alunos com fraco aproveit-amento era de 92%. Foi demonstrado que 65,2% dos estudantes pertencem a uma família nuclear, o sexo masculino tem 66% mais probabilidades de ter um desempenho abaixo do sexo feminino, os estudantes com disfunções familiares têm 2,4 vezes (PR 2,43; 95%CI 1,51-3,84) mais probabilidades de ter um desempenho abaixo do nível académico. Con-clusões: O baixo desempenho académico em tempos de pandemia tem sido influenciado não só pela idade, sexo, mas também, pela disfuncionalidade familiar, aumentando a proporção de estudantes que devem ser reprovados.Justificación: Los problemas de aprendizaje han afectado desde muchos años atrás, sin embargo, en tiempos de pandemia las dificultados pueden aumentar progresivamente a la par y uno de los parámetros a ser evaluados es la influencia que puede tener la funcionalidad familiar. Metodología: Estudio descriptivo de corte transversal correlacional, población de estudio 623 estudiantes universitarios a los cuales se les aplicó una encuesta, analizada mediante Razón de Prevalencias, OR e IC95%, con interacción entre las variables mediante SPSS V20. Resultados: El 64,7% son mujeres, 78,2% proceden de la región Andina, 95,8% solteros y el 10,1% presentan bajo rendimiento, de los cuales el 42,9% presentan disfunción familiar, el 41,3% son menores de 20 años y la probabilidad de que estos estudiantes tengan bajo rendimiento fue 92%. Se demostró que el 65,2% de estudiantes pertenecen a una familia nuclear, el sexo masculino tiene 66% más probabilidad de tener bajo rendimiento que el sexo femenino, los estudiantes que presentan disfunción familiar tienen 2,4 veces (RP 2,43; IC95% 1,51-3,84) más probabilidad de tener bajo rendimiento académico.
