Summary: Abstract The objective of this article is to explore from the theoretical perspective but also from reality, the situation of the models of university legal training in Mexico, for this the first part of the work with a documentary methodology describes the main characteristics of the approach of traditional training and the dogmatic conception of law in contrast to contemporary models of competency-based training and legal three-dimensionalism. Subsequently, based on field research, the experience of the participants in four national universities of the Mexican Republic is contrasted to conclude which are the current practices and models in the training of law graduates in these institutions.
