Summary: The judgment of the Portuguese Supreme Court rendered on July 14, 2022, recognizes the validity in Portugal of the judgment of the Spanish Constitutional Court no. 147/2021, which granted protection to an Angolan citizen who was the subject of an extradition procedure in Spain. The Portuguese decision is -as far as we know- the first in Europe that proceeds to the recognition of a specific decision issued by a Constitutional Court, for which it marks a milestone in the area of freedom, security and justice in the EU. The aim of this paper is to analyze the sentence and its internal basis, not only because of the interest that it has in itself, but also in order to discover whether or not we are facing a resolution with a legal architecture solid enough for the it becomes a future precedent in the field of European judicial cooperation.
