Síndrome de Burnout en Internos de Medicina
description
Burnout syndrome (SB) was defined by Maslach as an inadequate way of dealing with chronic stress produced by work, whose main manifestations are emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and decreased personal performance, however, to date there is no a universal definition established by the World Health Organization (WHO), who only declared it as an occupational risk factor in the year 2000. The Rotating Internship of Medicine in Ecuador is an intra-hospital stage that is completed in the last year of all public and private universities that offer this career. Medical interns in daily practice are considered as part of the health personnel, for which they support multiple risk factors that denote stress, fatigue, exhaus-tion, work overload, among others. The objective of this research is to identify the percentages of risk of developing Burnout Syndrome in Medical Interns of a public hospital in the city of Portoviejo, validated by the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) survey. In order to carry out this research, a descriptive, comparative, cross-sectional study was carried out. The intervened populations were all the Medical Interns of a Public Hospital in the City of Portoviejo. The Sample is made up of 40 Medicine Interns during the period from 2021 to 2022 of the Hospital. The information was obtained through the application of the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), which is a validated survey for Burnout Studies in subjects belonging to personnel in health areas. Once the MBI data collection instrument was applied to 40 Medical Interns of a Public Hospital in the City of Portoviejo, it was possible to identify that 65% have a low level of personal fulfillment, 70% have high levels of deperson-alization and the 60% high levels of personal fatigue, with which we can infer that around 60-70% of medical interns who work in a public Hospital in the City of Portoviejo suffer from Burnout Syndrome
