Summary: This research aims to describe, explain, and analyse the genocide process in Myanmar against the Rohingya community. The uses of religion, social media and identity, served as tools to justify violence, eliminate the enemy, and hide the real cause of the military offensive against the Muslim community in 2017. Similarly, the historical conflict between the internal communities and the effect to the country’s democratic and economic opening put Myanmar society on the path of condemning the Rohingya and acquiring a place as an actor in the genocide. In this way, society legitimized the military government in the 2017 military operations that forced the displacement of more than 700,000 Rohingyas, who, added to the more than 200,000 who had already migrated between 2012 and 2015, they find themselves without state or rights in the world’s largest refugee camp in Bangladesh.
